This short movie (released in 1931) was intended to raise funds for the National Variety Artists tuberculosis sanatorium and starred the biggest stars of the time. Norma made her first appearance after her son’s birth a short time earlier.
Marie Antoinette’s wedding dress, designed by Gilbert Adrian, for Marie Antoinette (1938) weighed a whopping 108 lbs! Over 500 yards of satin and thousands of tiny, hand-stitched seed pearls went into making the dress.
Due to the weight of the dress—and many of the dresses created for the film—special steel hoops and undergarment ‘support systems’ were created to help the actresses handle the weight of their costumes.
